The idea for the performance "Congratulations!" was born in the thick of the award season 2026, when the Latvian culture bubble was bursting with the usual drama -- why did one person get nominated, why was another left behind, why is this person getting state funds and why is another left without money. Who is worthy? Why can't we award everyone?
In this performance, everyone is worthy. Everyone gets praise. Because who doesn't like getting their five seconds of attention from the whole room, a paper medal and a handshake from a highly esteemed individual?
This performance was part of Riga Performance Art centre workshop series "Personal Mythologies" and premiered on April 12th, 2026.
